LEAZES LIVE AT THE GLOBE, NEWCASTLE

Fun, energetic, and captivating – exactly what you want a live gig to be, and exactly what Leazes gave at their gig at The Globe, Newcastle on Saturday February 1st. 

If you’re a fan of Indie or alternative music, you’ll be a big fan of Leazes. Their music is electrifying, filled with intricate guitar riffs, driving energy from the bass and drums, and relatable lyrics that everyone can resonate with. 

The band is composed of five Geordie natives, Joe King, Sam Dellow, Brandon Campbell, Ben Sanyang and James Wake, all with different unique talents that makes that Leazes sound. 

The performance at The Globe was part of the Independent Music Venue week, an organisation that celebrates independent venues across the country that helps keep live music in circulation, and promotes some incredible upcoming bands and artists. As part of this, the band were also supported by other independent artists in the Newcastle indie scene, Buses and Wazygoose. Both support acts had their own unique sound, and were incredible to watch. 

Leazes performance was outstanding; it grabbed my attention from start to finish, and kept getting better as the set went on. There was a mixture of upbeat, high energy songs that got the audience moving, as well as a small acoustic section which really showed off some great musicality and sentimental lyrics. The final few songs of the night were something like no other; audiences were dancing, hats were thrown in the air (loving the audience participation), and the band were enjoying themselves; exactly what a live, intimate gig like this should have been. Their sell out performance was one of the best I’ve seen, despite not knowing much about the band previously. Leazes is a band I would definitely see again, and musicians that everyone should watch out for in the indie scene of Newcastle and beyond.
