GURRIERS @ NEW CENTURY HALL 16/10/26

Last Friday night, Irish rock band Gurriers performed to a sold out crowd at Manchester’s New Century Hall. Considering this was the fourth time I had seen them, they never fail to put on an incredible show!

Opening band Tramhaus just graced the stage as I arrived and their sound was actually perfect for a Gurriers audience. I loved their enthusiasm and performance (so they definitely gained a few new fans that night) and so did the several Gurriers members I spotted in the crowd!

When it finally was time for Gurriers to take to the stage, I must admit the only thing I wanted to do was curl up in bed, but those first couple of notes of Nobody’s Coming To Save You really ignited something in me. From my quite-far-back view, the hardcore fans were mainly close to the stage, jumping and moshing literally nonstop. By the end of Party Lines, I had such intense FOMO I weaved my way through the crowd and joined right in! I must admit, the energy at Gurriers shows never seems to disappoint and never seems to dull at any moment during the show. It is intense and insane from the first song until the very last (and although I left drenched in sweat and dying of thirst, it was an incredible feeling). My personal favourite part of the set was the “wall of death” formed near the end of the show where nearly everyone was involved in a big mosh pit. From teenagers like myself to middle aged men, everyone was screaming together. In my opinion that is what music is about. It is meant to bring different people from different walks of life together to enjoy the same things.

I cannot wait for the next time I see Gurriers, and now they’re growing in fan base it’s so exciting to see more and more people coming together to support them and enjoy their music!
