From the moment the gates opened on Friday, thousands of fans had gone full-on in embracing the now-iconic Pitbull look. Roundhay Park was bustling with bald caps, gleaming white shirts, black ties and sunglasses, creating a sea of mini Mr. Worldwide‘s before the headliner even hit the stage.
Pitbull ultimately came out to the unmistakable opening of Don’t Stop The Party and the atmosphere exploded. The Grammy-winner wasted no time proving why he has become one of the most reliable party starters in live music, delivering a hit-filled set that barely allowed the audience to catch its breath.

With high-energy dancers flanking him and his trademark dark sunglasses, Pitbull exuded infectious confidence with anthem after anthem. Hotel Room Service, Gasolina, Fireball and I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho) had every inch of Roundhay Park singing, dancing and loving the free spirit that has driven his amazing career revival.

Earlier on, Jason Derulo performed a perfectly executed show full of well-coordinated dance moves, outstanding singing abilities and hits such as Whatcha Say, Wiggle, Swalla and Sexy For Me. Everything about his performance was rehearsed to perfection, but his charisma made the massive show seem intimate.

Tinie Tempah showcased just what makes him a key artist in the British rap genre. Pass Out, completed with a Leeds-inspired lyric change, and “Written in the Stars” became massive crowd moments, as well as a taster of his new song “Rude.”

Lil Jon‘s set took on an extra personal meaning from the moment he step foot on stage, paying homage to the memory of his son, who unfortunately passed earlier this year, Nathan Smith (DJ Young Slade). But this introspective beginning soon made way for sheer exuberance, as songs like Turn Down For What and Get Low caused the whole crowd to bounce. “This is my first time playing Leeds, but I hear you party hard,” he called out, and Roundhay didn’t disappoint him.
