Pevova produced an immersive yet eerie atmosphere right away. Their sound alternated between the harsher textures of alternative rock and dream-pop softness, striking a balance between times of genuine emotional abrasion and shimmering, cinematic instrumentation. Those disparities become even more pronounced in real life. The audience was drawn into a universe that felt wholly their own rather than dependent on the current cycle of interchangeable indie-rock revivalism as songs suddenly swelled and broke.
Aimee was at the heart of it all, and it was hard to look away from her stage presence. Her voice expertly flowed from delicate and ethereal to fierce and even combative, adding a volatility to the performance that kept the audience completely enthralled. Flashes of Kate Bush-style art-pop drama were paired with echoes of Siouxsie Sioux’s gothic sharpness. The allusions developed in an organic manner, blending into a performance that remained remarkably unique.

The set’s unpredictability was what made it so compelling. Aimee’s vocals were delivered with almost operatic restraint at one point, and then the audience was startled into quiet by a terrifying shriek that resembled a banshee. The performance felt more than just practised because of the tension created by direct eye contact, sudden dynamic changes, and an almost aggressive quietness in between songs.
The band was originally named Aimee & The Parade. They had played a few shows previously, but nothing on these shows with Sir Chloe. This evolution seems important. Pevova no longer sounds like a band experimenting with identity; rather, they sound like a group that has already discovered one and is now honing it with ever-greater accuracy. By the end of their set, they had accomplished the goal of every great supporting act, which is to command attention without having to compete for it. They left the audience wanting much more while also elevating the entire vibe of the evening.
The mood was set when Sir Chloe finally entered the stage later that evening. In many respects, it seemed like one of those infrequent lineups when the supporting act was truly crucial to the experience.
