Following a hugely successful debut at its new home in Exhibition Park, In the Park Newcastle is set to return this July with an expanded programme, major headline names and what promises to be one of the North East’s biggest live music celebrations of the summer.
Now firmly establishing itself as one of the UK’s must-visit outdoor concert series, the 2026 edition brings together a carefully curated mix of arena-filling icons, influential British artists and emerging regional talent across four huge days of live music in the heart of Newcastle.
With performances from Lewis Capaldi, Paul Weller and Wolf Alice already generating major excitement, organisers are preparing for the festival’s largest edition to date as music fans from across the UK descend on Exhibition Park.
The festival kicks off on Wednesday 8th July with Scottish superstar Lewis Capaldi, marking his biggest ever outdoor headline show in Newcastle. Demand for tickets has been extraordinary, with the original date selling out rapidly and a second performance added on Thursday 9th July due to overwhelming public demand. Capaldi’s return to the live stage continues to be one of the most talked-about comeback stories in British music. Known for his emotional songwriting, self-deprecating humour and powerful live performances, the singer-songwriter has built an extraordinary connection with audiences across the globe through chart-topping hits including Someone You Loved, Before You Go and Forget Me.

On Friday 10th July, the festival welcomes one of Britain’s most respected and influential musicians as Paul Weller headlines Exhibition Park. Spanning over five decades, Weller’s career has shaped generations of British music. From the politically charged energy of The Jam to the sophisticated soul and pop experimentation of The Style Council and his critically acclaimed solo work, Weller remains one of the country’s defining musical voices.
Joining him is special guest Miles Kane, whose swaggering indie-rock sound and sharp songwriting have made him one of the UK’s most distinctive guitar artists. Amelia Coburn completes the bill, bringing cinematic folk influences and a rapidly growing reputation for her ethereal performances.
Closing the series on Sunday 12th July is one of the most important British bands of the modern era: Wolf Alice.
Fronted by the magnetic Ellie Rowsell, the band have consistently pushed the boundaries of modern British guitar music while maintaining an emotional honesty that resonates deeply with audiences. Their live performances are renowned for their intensity, unpredictability and emotional range — shifting effortlessly between explosive rock moments and vulnerable atmospheric ballads.
Their headline slot at In the Park Newcastle arrives at a major moment in the band’s career. Fresh from a huge international tour, Wolf Alice recently released their fourth studio album, The Clearing, which debuted at No.1 on the UK Albums Chart and further solidified their position as one of Britain’s leading contemporary bands.

The album’s success also earned the group a fourth Mercury Prize nomination — an extraordinary achievement that makes Wolf Alice the only band in the award’s history to receive a nomination for every one of their studio albums. That consistency has become a defining part of Wolf Alice’s legacy. Few modern bands have managed to balance mainstream success with critical credibility as effectively as they have, continually evolving their sound while maintaining the raw emotional energy that first drew audiences to them.
