‘OPEN FIRE’- THE FALLS: SINGLE REVIEW

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Rising indie-rock band, The Falls, recently dropped their newest single, Open Fire, and it certainly does not disappoint! Drawing inspiration from artists like Jake Bugg and The Kooks, The Falls are a band I wouldn’t want to miss.

Open Fire conveys the feeling of being just out of control of everything in life, constantly trying to regain what you once held. The instrumentation truly mirrors it perfectly, with a blend of tense riffs, fiery drums and desperate vocals. All elements and aspects of the track reflect a loss of control, making Open Fire such a unique sounding song. Listening to the track, it feels like I myself have lost control of everything. The lyrics show the urgency we all feel in modern life of never really having time to pause and think about ourselves. Talking about the track, vocalist Harrison Sharp expressed how it has a “fiery energy that mirrors the sense of everything falling apart, where control feels just out of reach”. Open Fire is an amazing first single of the year, and I cannot wait to see what else The Falls release throughout the year!

It’s a definite fan favourite live. It’s short, sharp, super catchy, and encapsulates our current sound perfectly.”

After forming in 2023, Manchester-based band The Falls, have been on a winning streak. With such a strong live presence, they have played many gigs- both locally and across the country- and most recently, a headline at the famous Manchester Academy 3. They’ve consistently performed so well and gained such a reputation for it, that their next headline show at Manchester’s Gullivers sold out in less than 24 hours! A second night at The Castle Hotel has been added, and tickets are selling fast. I wouldn’t miss out if I was you! The Falls seem to be at the front of the Manchester music scene and I am excited for what they release next!
