Starting your music industry journey as an underground band in 2025 is not easy to do, with many people being blindsided with what’s going on in the mainstream industry. The band ‘White Label’ have just released their single ‘Honestly’, which is a great way to create excitement around their future releases and drawing in a wider audience!
The song is a 190-second-long piece, lyrically based around the concept of white lies, making the title a perfect fit for the thematic elements of the track.

We start the track with some smooth chords on the guitar, bringing in a calm feeling to the song. As soon as the lead vocals come in, I couldn’t help but to realise how well the vocals suited the instrumental, in terms of notes and also the soft projection of these first few lyrics. As I made my way to the chorus of the song, I noticed a change in tone. The instrumental (guitar in particular) becomes a bit more heavy and the vocals taking on a more confrontational style.
This song is based around the idea of white lies, which is evident by the lyrics of the chorus; “You say I see what I wanna see”. This line in particular really sparked my interest and it allowed me to see this song to be more based around a situation rather than just a certain theme. In my opinion, the use of this lyric refers to an argument – where one is calling another deluded and making it out that their confrontation is drama-fuelled.
After the chorus is repeated for a 2nd time, the song seems to become more tense – which in contrast to it’s start – shows the topic at hand and it’s storyline developing massively throughout the span of most of the song. This is a really nice thing to see from a band who have just started off. It showcases their ability to grasp onto an idea and display it to listeners during all sections of the song.
Overall, for the band’s 3rd release so far, they have made a great impression on me and hopefully other listeners too!
