For the first time ever, Halifax is hosting a Goth Festival on Valentine’s weekend to celebrate all things gothic literature, music and more!
With the unity of three organisations within The Piece Hall – The Grayston Unity, The Book Corner and Beetl3juice – this three day event promises to bring together some of the best of gothic arts and culture in this Yorkshire town.Â
Just 12 miles from the birthplace of the Bronte sisters, three timeless writers who have significantly shaped the gothic literature genre with works such as Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre, Halifax presents itself as the perfect location for a festival dedicated to this genre. Very fitting, then, that the festival kicks off on Friday the 14th of February with its first ticketed event ‘Spellbound: An evening of Gothic Literature’ at 6:30 in The Book Corner (review soon to follow!)Â
From there, Goth Festival promises to bring exciting talks with prominent gothic figures, lively DJ sets uniting goth music from past and present, as well as other literary events and spooky tours of the town. The first of potentially many Goth Festivals to come, be sure to grab tickets and come along to this unique historic event!
