PRECIOUS INK: ‘RADIO SILENCE’ – EP REVIEW

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Emerging from the vibrant underground scene of Northeast England, Precious Ink has solidified their reputation as one of the most exhilarating Brat Punk acts on the circuit. Hailing from Newcastle upon Tyne, the band blends raw punk energy with anthemic hooks, creating a sound that is both urgent and infectious.

Their live performances are nothing short of electrifying. An extremely productive 2024 for the band, not only did the quintet produce 2 successful releases but also numerous sold-out shows all across the North East of England. With frontwoman Hannah Rose Logan delivering commanding and charismatic performances. The band’s chemistry is palpable, and their setlist—packed with fan favorites and fresh material—which keep their audience fully engaged from start to finish. Their latest single, “Eyeliner,” made a powerful impact, proving that Precious Ink is only getting stronger with each release.

Beyond the stage, their studio work continues to impress. Their EP “Radio Silence” is yet another perfect example of their evolving sound—blending heavy basslines, piercing guitar riffs, and sharp lyrical wit. The EP demands your attention right from the opening riff, the rebellious sound the band have meticulously strived to create within these four tracks is not only blatantly evident, but also believable. These five are Punk down to their core, that’s plain to see from their punchy melody lines, thought provoking lyrics, blistering guitar solo’s, and fast paced percussive display.

The EP is a culmination of their first generation of sound. ‘Radio Silence’ includes four tracks that cover the basis of modern-day problems of love, telling a story of heartbreak and healing along the way. Upon listening to the EP the influences of the likes of Paramore & The Pretty Reckless are unmistakable, however personally the thought that struck me throughout the entire ensemble was that Precious Ink sound like an ungodly love child of Wolf Alice and early career Avril Lavigne, which for me is no mean feat.

With their relentless energy, fierce stage presence, and ever-growing fanbase, Precious Ink is a band on the rise. Whether through blistering live sets or punchy studio recordings, they are proving that Brat Punk is alive and well in the UK underground.
