On Friday 31st January, Leicester-based band ‘ANT HILL’ released their second single ‘Kimbo Slice’. Marketed as the ‘heaviest song they have ever written’, the track’s title comes from the legendary and highly revered mixed martial artist of the same name, due to the song discussing a battle of a fighter with not just opponents but also the self.
The sound of the track delves into grunge and is reminiscent of the 90s, whilst maintaining a distinctive individual style. With electric undertones, ‘Kimbo Slice’ is loud, full of conviction and utterly unafraid. Delightfully composed, the single echoing some of nirvana’s heavier releases, it’s an impressive piece for ANT HILL’S discography.
The band’s claim that they have been working on ‘Kimbo Slice’ since the beginning proves true upon listen by the evident attention poured into the track. I strongly encourage a visit to the bands Spotify below, as members Jack, Lenny, Sam and Adam are creating unmissable content as ANT HILL.
