The Ariston are an impressive four-piece indie-rock band based in London. Following the release of their first single ‘Yellow Lines’ in 2022 and an impressive run of live performances the band recently released their latest single ‘The Festival’ on the 10th of May.
With this new single The Ariston verge on a sound that could be in danger of being lost in unoriginality due to the oversaturated nature of this type of music. However, when dealing with such a competitive genre it’s the details that matter, and this track manages to carve out a place for itself in your mind with a piece of music that has clearly had love and passion poured into it. Packed full of references to the world of Manchester, ‘The Festival’ is a perfectly polished and passionate addition to the bands growing sound and the indie rock world.

An incredibly dynamic bassline provides the foundations for most of the track driving you through the verses, alongside a vocal track from lead singer Luca Slade packed full of the character and passion that the indie rock world demands. The space of these verses compliments an incredibly energetic chorus pulled forward by a punchy guitar track, which all provides the perfect soundtrack for the underground mosh pit that The Ariston creates between your headphones.
Some of my favourite sections of this song are the little details that I mentioned earlier, the details that elevate this above a lot of the ‘samey’ sounding music coming out within this genre. For example, the radio introduction to the track, or the little pause following the “ahh forget it” introducing the second chorus. These small details, in my opinion anyways, showcase the amount of thought gone into this single and it really works, this song is a blast.
