Newly-formed 3-piece Elephant and The Rider, originating from Cheadle, Manchester, have released their second single ‘Lost In Love’, lifted from an upcoming EP. Their debut in January 2024 created a buzz through critical support and radio play from BBC Introducing, iHeart Radio, and Amazing Radio, and their latest work (along with upcoming EP) solidifies them as a trio capable of blending an eclectic range of influences into a unique sound that is defiantly theirs.

On ‘Lost In Love’, lead singer & guitarist Pip, bassist Tom, and drummer James lay down an undeniably fun edge, proving that playfulness and creativity can still be at the forefront of lyrically sophisticated music. Beginning with a fuzzy vocal-led intro, we’re quickly shown exactly why the trio are a key band to watch right now. A standout from the track is the angular rhythmic and melodic directions it takes: an impressive catalog of earworm guitar hooks and punchy drums lead a clean, intentionally-crafted instrumental seamlessly through a pattern of high-energy, danceable verses and choruses, while its melancholic lyrics reflect thematically on being, quite literally, lost in love: “Finally I belong /You’ve been missing all along”.
For a second ever single, ‘Lost In Love’ sounds impressively polished, with no doubt that Elephant and The Rider’s sound would translate perfectly into a live performance setting: if the studio version with Pip’s wildly unique vocals can amass such an amount of energy, we can only imagine how the live version will pull audiences to the dancefloor.
