MICHAEL ALDAG: “SORRY FOR EVERYTHING” ALBUM REVIEW

Michael Aldag, a 22-year-old musician and comedian from West Kirby, has been creating quite a buzz in the UK entertainment industry. He has been wowing audiences with his performances at various Eurovision celebrations and has gained a significant following on TikTok. His humorous sketches, which cover topics such as dating in the 1500s and university accommodation, have garnered a staggering 65 million likes and 900,000 followers. Last Friday (19th April), he released his debut album titled sorry for everything, which is a personal and introspective work that delves into his struggles with mental health, his personal growth, and his romantic life.

The album opens with the TikTok-hit girlfriends setting the tone for the rest of the journey. Standout tracks like olivia and hot chocolate showcase Aldag’s poignant songwriting and evocative storytelling. Each song is a heartfelt confession, a cathartic release of emotion that feels both personal and universal.

One of my personal favourites from sorry for everything is girlfriends, a track that stands out for its catchy pop beats and upbeat vibes. Despite its undeniable appeal, I find it hard to fathom why this song, along with cheating, hasn’t yet gained the recognition it deserves. These viral hits have made rounds on popular social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, yet they have not made it to the charts.

Nobody’s just funny or just sad. I put all my emotions into music. It’s a release for me, a way to deal with emotions in my life and it always has been since I was 14.

Despite his cheerful TikTok’s, he argued there is no subject he is afraid of tackling in his music.

Michael started writing his own songs and performing them at local venues in and around his hometown when he was just 14. His undeniable talent and passion for music quickly earned him a loyal following, and it wasn’t long before he began to attract attention from industry professionals, getting signed by Warner Records. Last year was a particularly successful one for him, as he sold out his debut headline tour and also supported Caity Baser and Dean Lewis on their respective tours. His live performances showcase his exceptional vocal ability and his ability to captivate audiences with his original songs.

Another stand-out track is Bleak which Michael has previously spoken about in interviews saying “Without sugarcoating it, it’s about suicide and suicidal thoughts, really and mental health and stuff. So yeah, it’s about how you deal with that and the people who stick around through those times. It was quite a tough period for me and as ever, I deal with a lot of it in my music.”

sorry for everything is a testament to Aldag’s talent as a singer-songwriter, capturing the essence of human vulnerability and resilience in the face of life’s trials. The album traverses themes of love, loss, regret, and growth, offering a deeply personal and cathartic listening experience. It’s a musical masterpiece that lingers in the heart long after the final notes fade away.
