“Revolutionise” is defined by the dictionary as “To radically or fundamentally change (something)” and in this scenario I believe “revolutionise” may well be an understatement. Venture Entertainment, founded by the pioneer that is Harrison Lord, are set to release a new form of music promotion that allows artists to receive 95% of all the commission made from their own gigs.

This is quite frankly ground-breaking towards the entire industry and completely turns the tables on many promoters across the country who have quite simply never come close to matching Venture Entertainment’s rates.
And it begs the question, how is all of this possible?
Quite simply, artists will now be able to book the venue of their choice, with then 95% of the revenue (that exceeds Venture Entertainment’s initial loan to book the venue itself) is then completely left to the benefit of the artists.
In an industry which leaves thousands of musicians searching for the last coins in their pockets in an effort to help fund the endless cost of: music gear, music tuition, recording costs, distribution costs and AD campaigns on top of the stresses of writing music, performing music, making as much online content as possible and finally balancing everyday life, you could certainly say this is revolutionary.
For the average musician, being able to receive 95% commission for their events will massively alleviate stress and pressure off their backs as well as making the entire process of being a musician far more enjoyable with this new method potentially being the difference between an artist earning £200 or £800. As I’m sure we can all agree, it should be the artist who makes the majority of the money off a show (as opposed to a promoter who only made a poster and sent a couple of emails) and this is so encouraging to see the industry finally take a step in the right direction.
Whilst this does make you wonder how it has taken so long for us to even get to this point, it must credited to Venture Entertainment for taking this leap that is undoubtably going to change the industry forever as any given artist would be mad not to work with them, seeing as they would receive an exponentially higher rate with them than any other promoter.
With a current grassroots music scene that is clearly struggling in the UK, with seemingly a different venue closing every other week, Venture Entertainment again present themselves as the silver lining at the minute, with how their unique business model has proven that ethics taking precedence is clearly the way forward. Furthermore, with “Venture Fest” in the summer that sees The Sherlocks and K-Klass headlining (tickets purchasable below) priced at only £12, it appears that it wont be much longer until Venture Entertainment is competing on the same level with the current industry giants.
And one final word, if you’re an artist reading this then I ask you, why haven’t you worked with Venture Entertainment yet?
