Located in Glasgow, the indie-rock band Ample House have just released their sophomore single ‘Good Health’ last Friday. This follows their successful debut single that was released just at the start of this year.
The track kicks off with a catchy and abrasive guitar riff, which we see more throughout the song, and is able to grab the listeners attention from the moment they hit play. The lyrics then come in and the melody becomes quite calm, making way for a great balance between instrumental and vocal projection, alongside showcasing the band’s ability to showcase high energy yet also great depth.
As the song moved into the chorus, I was definitely reminded of a band of the same genre, Inhaler, in terms of the vocals which are quite soft and held a significant amount of emotion. In terms of the lyrics themselves, they hold an underlying theme of loneliness which is a poignant basis, yet is so effective in the shaping of the song. Very importantly, the instrumental accompaniments to the track work well with the vocals to make the song feel more upbeat and add a very casual listening style to the song, making it very accessible to newer listeners.
For being only their second single after their debut in January, the band are presenting amazing artistry skills, essential to their progress towards further work which will undoubtedly be nothing short of spectacular!
Although the indie-rock genre is very wide and a lot of artists and bands make a lot of this music, I think Ample House have a very distinctive sound which gives them a substantial benefit to be recognised and praised for their avant-garde take on the indie-rock genre.
It is really exceptional of the band to go from releasing their first single at the start of this year, and go on to release more and more music to make sure that listeners and potential fans can give the band a good chance of being a staple within their taste.
Overall, I think this track has the potential to do very well and aid the band to push their music out and showcase their skills to as many people as possible!
