Voodoo, Belfast to host Metal to the Masses Heat 3 this Friday

This Friday, February 21, 2025, Voodoo Belfast will host Heat Three of the Metal 2 the Masses Northern Ireland competition, presented by The Distortion Project. This event offers local metal bands the chance to secure a coveted slot on the New Blood Stage at the Bloodstock Festival 2025, alongside renowned acts such as Trivium, Gojira, and Machine Head.

Event Details:

  • Date & Time: Friday, February 21, 2025, with doors opening at 8:00 PM.
  • Venue: Voodoo Belfast, 9–11 Fountain Street, Belfast, BT1 5EA.
  • Admission: £7.00 plus booking fee, which includes one voting slip. Tickets are available online and at the door; both cash and card payments are accepted.

The lineup for Heat Three features four local metal bands:

  1. BLACK DOG MOON
  2. DEVILSOME
  3. FINAL THIRTEEN
  4. SOMA

Competing Bands:

Competition Format:

Each band will perform a 30-minute set, with the running order drawn at random on the day of the show. The schedule is as follows:

  • Band 1: 8:45 PM – 9:15 PM
  • Band 2: 9:30 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Band 3: 10:15 PM – 10:45 PM
  • Band 4: 11:00 PM – 11:30 PM

Audience voting will close at 11:45 PM, with results announced between 12:15 AM and 12:30 AM. The judging system is a points-based system, with 50% of the score from audience votes and 50% from a panel of 3 to 5 judges, including local journalists, sound engineers, promoters, and other music industry professionals. Attendees will receive voting slips upon entry and are asked to score the bands in descending order:

  • 4 points for the band you want to finish in First Place
  • 3 points for the band you want to finish in Second Place
  • 2 points for the band you want to finish in Third Place
  • 1 point for the band you want to finish in Fourth Place

An x or tick beside the band you want to win will not be accepted and these votes will not be counted.

Prizes:

The top two bands from each heat will advance to the semi-finals, with the winning band receiving travel expenses up to the value of £400. This is a fantastic opportunity for local metal bands to gain exposure and potentially perform at one of the UK’s premier metal festivals.
