MUSIQBYCHINA: ‘PRESENCE’ – SINGLE REVIEW

MusiqByChina, a singer-songwriter who fuses together RNB, soul and gospel to create her own signature sound, recently released her debut single ‘Presence’ on August 6^th to the anticipation of fans. ‘Presence’ is a sensual love song that brings back that rich early 2000’s sound that’s currently lost in the charts. Hailing from Manchester but originating from Jamaica (Linstead),  China is sonically reminiscent of greats like Beyonce, which are big shoes to fill but she undoubtedly does. China’s music isn’t just heard; it’s felt. She is ready for any stage; China is ready to take the world by storm.

The single opens with a seductive, almost playful strum of the guitar and intoxicating vocals that already immerse listeners in the romance of ‘Presence’. The song uniquely begins with the chorus, weaving the tale of a man who is ‘one of a kind’ so she will never not be completely infatuated by his mere presence. She will always be obsessed with his being even though his being is already hers.

‘Presence’ then sharply moves into the first verse where a punchy drumbeat comes in full force leaving listeners even more obsessed with the addictive melody. With highly controlled vocals  she sings the lyrics, ‘Back up there’s a guideline, boy you’re finer than wine.’ It’s in this poetic lyricism that China reveals that she doesn’t want to move too fast and rush their love, she’d rather indulge in his presence and be drunk on his love as if the stars aligned just for them.

Standout lyrics, ‘your love makes me stand tall’ add a sense of female empowerment to the single. This man makes her feel powerful, like a siren enchanting a sailor to the alter of her love.  He’s man enough to let her take control, only thrilling listeners further.

The single ends on the same flirtatious note that it began, a crescendo of China’s ethereal vocals and a melody that is sure to stick with listeners for days to come. So go and check out  ‘Presence’ for yourself to support a talented emerging artist whilst we anticipate what comes next for the amazing MusiqByChina.
