Making waves in the alternative rock world, Monday’s Problem recently released their debut single “Black and White”, an energetic Mancunian tune, which really encapsulates the feeling of a teenage crush.

“Black and White” opens with a sharp guitar riff, and matching it with the Foo Fighters-sounding drum beat, the track boasts the skills of the whole band. Frontman, Josh Smith, really reflects the band’s live sound and with his energetic vocals, the song has a catchy youthful anthem feeling to it, one similar of The Reytons.
Monday’s Problem, an indie/alt-rock band from Manchester, are slowly rising into the music scene. With memorable live shows, the most recent being supporting Montello on the 19th of July at Manchester Academy 3, they have gained quite a following in just under a year of forming. After doing many support slots for different artists across the city, Monday’s Problem recently announced their next headline show, at Retro, Manchester on 13th September. As shown through their single, the band’s energy is unmatched and the atmosphere at live shows is incredible. Taking inspiration from older bands such as The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys, Monday’s Problem are bringing back the unique sounds of young people making music and performing for fun.
Their highly anticipated single, “Black and White” was the first ever song written by the band and with a debut track this incredible, Monday’s Problem have a promising future ahead of them. The catchy melodies and smart verses boast their raw and lively sound, and the song itself has a chaotic rhythm, matching the lyrics perfectly. It depicts young teenage romance, where underneath the flirting and joking, the infatuation between them starts. “Black and White” expresses feelings of adoration in a light-hearted way, and with the punchy guitar solo in the bridge, it falls into the stereotypical indie rock love song category. Talking about the single, the band hoped to showcase their dynamic live sound into a studio record, and it’s clear they perfected it:
“When we’ve played this track live it has so much raw energy to it and we really wanted to make sure that came through in the studio recording.
