Emergency Break are a relatively new up and coming London based band delving into the world of independent post-punk. Following on from sell-out gigs in multiple venues, O2 Academy Islington on the 12th of July being the most recent, and their prior single ‘EVERYTHING YOU MAKE I BREAK’ in June, the band have now released their newest single ‘CAN YOU FEEL IT’. With this track the band attempt to portray the feeling of relief that follows the headliner finally reaching the stage, and to delve into the energy and power of live music.
‘CAN YOU FEEL IT’ is certainly a song that will be best consumed live, the incredibly short song oozes with classic post-punk energy that would undoubtably come to the forefront and thrive in the live environment. With roaring guitar tracks, pounding drums, and a throbbing bassline to introduce you to this punchy anthem, the song wastes no time in its two-minute runtime to smack you in the face with all the characterful energy it can muster.

With only two minutes ‘Emergency break’ don’t exactly redefine the genre that it lies in – it doesn’t do much different in its attempt to conjure a snapshot of the live scene, but Leo’s personality filled vocal take does enough on top of the powerful instrumental core to establish ‘CAN YOU FEEL IT’ as another solid addition to ‘Emergency Break’s growing repertoire.
‘Emergency Break’ are an exciting young band finding themselves in a very promising run of success, looking forward to playing their own ‘ON THE MEADOW’ festival in August. While this new song doesn’t reinvent the wheel, it is certainly another sure sign of their upwards trajectory, further emphasizing the need to keep an eye on this band and their work.
