Hailing all the way from Dublin in Ireland, the release of the new EP “Body Breaking” by 3-Piece Alt Rock band Forty Foot is set to make waves across the Irish sea.

I think that when reviewing music you can’t really just listen to a song once as music has to have time to grow, develop and linger. I think “Body Breaking” definitely grew on me over time and I think that it became more apparent what the band are actually trying to achieve with their sound.
The band are probably most similar to that of Kasabian, as noted with the powerful and energetic riffs that commence proceedings in “Operator” as well as having that almost indie feel that would make these tunes slot easily into an old Fifa 13 soundtrack. Then follows is the standout track from the album “Toothache” that carriers along a very heavy feel throughout, with the EP title “Body Breaking” ringing out across the chorus.

I think the final two tracks “Constellation” and “Tremble” follow suit from those prior, emphasising the present class and understanding the trio have into where their own creative elements shine. However, whilst it could be argued that the instinct to stick to one sound shows a lack of creative initiative, I actually think that to the bands credit every song is really solid that in a way it’s somewhat of a blessing to have more of a good thing.
I do think it will be interesting to see if the bands later releases follow this similar pattern again, but I think overall “Body Breaking” is genuinely a pretty decent EP with it being hard to pick out any real faults especially musically, despite a slight lack of risk in regards to choosing lyrics. The guitars work well in coherence with the lead singers vocals and I can imagine these tunes having a really profound feel on a live stage.
But as we conclude, I think that Forty Foot have well and truly earned the staple of approval in the music industry, which is (as always) that you should keep your eye on them.
